What Is Aid & Attendance?
In 1952, Congress passed Title 38 of the United States Code, creating what we now call the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and authorizing benefits for veterans. One of these benefits is the non-service-connected enhanced pension with Aid and Attendance.
Aid & Attendance is for wartime veterans or their surviving spouses and assists with the cost of home health care, assisted living, or adult daycare. This benefit is a tax-free entitlement.

Rebecca Ott was an Air Force flight medic and is a graduate of Purdue University. She now serves the veteran and civilian senior community as a Gerontologist and Board-Certified Geriatric Care Manager. Rebecca assists in navigating VA benefits for both the veteran and their spouses, along with many other senior services in addition to VA benefits.
